Why don’t we say gluten free?

The FDA also mandates that anything noted as gluten free not have wheat, rye or barley. We brew all Omission beers with the traditional beer ingredients (water, hops, yeast and barley) and add an enzyme to remove gluten to well under 20ppm.

So, even though we take quality and consistency very seriously when it comes to our products and meet the ‘gluten free’ threshold as designated by the FDA— because of our ingredients we are classified as ‘gluten reduced.’

BETTER BALANCED MEANS ALWAYS GLUTEN REDUCED

All Omission brews are crafted to reduce gluten. Here’s how.

    Step 1 BREWING

Omission Beer is made from four basic ingredients: barley, wheat, hops and yeast.

    Step 2 FERMENTATION

Omission beer is created when brewer’s yeast consumes the malt sugars to produce alcohol, carbon dioxide, flavor and aroma.

    Step 3 ADD ENZYME

Brewers Clarex is added to Omission beer which breaks the bonds of gluten protein chains.

    Step 4 PACKAGING

Omission beer is canned in a sanitary, segregated environment to eliminate cross contamination.

    Step 5 THE GLUTEN TEST

R5 Competitive ELISA is used in house and at an independent lab to quantify gluten content of beer. Omission Beer consistently tests well below 20ppm. Find out what’s in your batch.
